Its Friyay ~ and Emily Prouse of Caletto Studios is the reason why today!           Emily is a starting out UK based artist that does such beautiful work that flourishes with details. Soft subtle dappling with crisp markings is always eye catching and she knows how to do just that. I sincerely love her Valegro custom with mohair that is so well done. I will one day have to have a model done by her to grace my shelf of customs! I sincerely look forward to how far she goes as she has a great start and will certainly go places, whether she paints for fun or takes it into a serious direction. What I also like is just how she enjoys working and painting these ponies, and pours in what she has of what is possible to paint. Its easy to see the evidence of the love, and I can imagine the owners of these models are thrilled with what Emily has done. Keep up the amazing work Emily ~ I can't wait to see more of what you do!      Please chec

What? Its Week 7 of AOTW? Yes it is! This week's Artist of the Week is Brie Cundiff of Brie Cundiff Studios. Brie has always amazed me with her wonderful abilities to bring plastic and resin ponies to life. And she can do just about every colour you can think of while she's at it!  My ultimate favourites are her bays and her buckskins. I'm a simple girl right? I love the bright shaded dapples she also does that is unique to her own. You know when you see her work, and it always makes me smile when I see a new painted pony. She also has done her own resculpting that add to the dynamics of a piece. And as always, the little touches and details that really bring a creation to vivid imagination that it just may blink are all there. And I really love to see that. Horses are so intricate and actually quite difficult to paint, either in 2D or 3D scale, when you think about it. Brie, you're doing so well and please keep up the great work. :) I still think, of all the wonderfu

Hello and welcome to week #6 of Artist of the Week! This time I'd like to introduce Jake Heaps of Break the Mold Studios!!!      Jake hit the scene in the artistry of the model horse world and hasn't disappointed anybody with the enthusiasm and the talent he has brought to the hobby since. I admire the energetic drive into the micro scale that wasn't as focused on at the time, despite incredible sculpts being produced. He paints in acrylics, which is astounding because coming from me who struggles so badly with acrylics to the point I rarely use them except for base coats or minor details...Jake is certainly adept at what he does and produces beautiful creations. 💗  I really like the eye and desire for different .... anything outside of normal. Its not always focused on a huge amount, so its super fun to see the concepts come to the surface. On top of painting, they also has joined the sculpting side of things, and has produced currently three 3-D resins for the hobb

Its Week #5 of Artist of the Week!  Today I'd love to introduce Micah Timko of Liquid Glass Studios!            Micah really caught my eye on Instagram with the first of her little Buckers that she had painted! Anything unusual in the horse colour realm does, honestly. That badger face is just perfect! Of course, I did some looking at her other work, and least to say, I am a fan.  💚 I love the soft colours and dimensional tones that she plays with that makes one look twice. The level of detail is astounding, because I know how much time and effort go into those little touches that make all the difference. I can't imagine how much better in person her creations must be (because in person is always better!) because I love seeing the photos of them. The talent displayed is amazing, and I highly encourage folks to follow along her creativity!      Check Micah's Instagram and don't forget to give her a follow!   Yesterday I woke up and wasn't motivated to do anything. All I could do was stare at the ponies needing sculpting, prepping, painting, and sealer layers. Most of the time I thrive on this and can happily work away on different projects. But In this kind of mood I don't even touch ponies because that leads to disaster.  So I did ALL the entries for the Candyland Photo Show. Because thats harder to mess up. In theory anyways.  I already had the photos ready for halter classes, but it took a bit of time to upload them all and remember their names/breeds.  None for Performance entries even had photos though. I only had time for a few classes, so I picked 5 that I felt I could do. I'm such a novice at this and am not very confident in creating ideas sometimes, because I don't know what is acceptable/whats not. Or because maybe, it wasn't such a bright idea like I would think to others. And with limited sources and props...I make do.  Thats part of the fun, you realize.
